The Palazzo

Centuries of light.

A dive into history

From Roman roots to medieval charm.

Staying at Palazzo Partenope means living in the beating heart of Vasto.

The palazzo overlooks Piazza Rossetti, the urban space that preserves the legacy of the ancient Roman amphitheatre. It was right here that the grand spectacles of the imperial age came to life, along with the striking naumachiae — re-enactments of naval battles — when water and stone shaped the face of the ancient city.

Yet the palazzo’s roots run even deeper, back to the Middle Ages: an era of which the building still keeps silent architectural traces. Around 1300 this area was part of the city’s defensive system and, as historical surveys and the records of the Soprintendenza recount, the fourteenth-century town walls ran along the adjacent Via Sportello: from Via Cavour towards Piazza Marconi, enclosing the old town and leading to the great Roman cisterns.

Today all of this awaits you, together with the comfort of a contemporary home. Each apartment is a window onto centuries of history: a stay suspended between the charm of the past and the lightness of the present.

The Renovation

Preserve, not freeze.

The renovation followed a simple principle: preserve the character of a fourteenth-century palazzo while bringing every space up to contemporary standards.

The modern lift and the removal of architectural barriers make the residence fully accessible, from the entrances to the top floor.
